اللَّهُمَّ صَلَّ عَلَى سَيّدِنَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَأَشْغِل الظَّالِمِيْنَ بِالظَّالِمِيْنَ وَأَخْرِجْنَا مِنْ بَيْنِهِمْ سَالِمِيْنَ وَعَلَى الِهِ وَصَحْبِهِ أَجْمَعِيْنَ
Latin Arabic: Allahumma shalli ala sayyidina muhammadin, wa asyghili dzalimin bi dzalimin Allahumma shalli ala sayyidina muhammadin, wa asyghili dzalimin bi dzalimin wa akhrij-na min bainihim saalimin, wa ala aalihi wa shahbihi ajmain.
Meaning: “O Allah, send blessings upon our leader Prophet Muhammad, and keep the oppressors busy with other oppressors. Save us from their evil. And send blessings upon all his family and companions.”
As reported in the book Kita Harus Bershalawat by Dian Erwanto, Imam Al-Ghazali said, one prayer contains many good things. Because, the existence of prayer is the basis of faith which if practiced, will renew faith in Allah SWT, then renew faith in the Messenger of Allah SAW.

1. Blessed
According to the book The Story Behind the Power of Prayer by Ayu Aprilanti, prayers upon Prophet Muhammad SAW can always make us blessed and safe from negative things.
2. Worthy of Worship
Practicing prayer is worth worship as stated by Allah SWT in Surah Al-Ahzab verse 56 which reads:
اِنَّ اللّٰهَ وَمَلٰٓٮِٕكَتَهٗ يُصُّوۡنَ عَلَى النَِِّّّّ ؕ يٰـاَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ ٰامَنُوۡا صَلُّوۡا عَلَيہِ وَسَلِّوۡا تَسْلِيمً
Latin Arabic: Innallāha wa malā`ikatụ yuṣallụna ‘alan-nabiyy, yā ayyuhallażīna āmānī ṣallụ ‘alaihi wa sallimû taslīmā
Meaning: Verily Allah and His angels send blessings for the Prophet. O you who believe! Pray for the Prophet and greet him respectfully.
3. Prayed for by Angels
The Prophet SAW said in a hadith, “If someone prays for me, then the angels will also pray for safety for him, so pray for him, be it a little or a lot.” (HR Ibnu Majah and Thabrani)
Chanting Asyghil sholawat can also be useful as an absolution of sins and raising the status of Muslims. It is even mentioned that when Asyghil sholawat is recited in the assembly, then the light of Allah SWT’s mercy will descend.
History of Asyghil Sholawat
Quoted from the NU Online page, Asyghil sholawat has been known since the end of the Umayyad Dynasty in the years 41-133 AH or around 661 – 750 AD.
This prayer was first brought up by the fifth grandson of the Prophet SAW, Jafar bin Muhammad bin Ali Zainal Abidin bin Husain bin Ali Al-Murtadlo, the husband of Fatimah az-Zahra. He is the parent of the founder of the Hanafi School and the founder of the Maliki School.
Sholawat Asyghil appeared in the book Al-Kawakibul Mudhiah in Ash – Salati Ala Khairil Bariyyah written by Habib Ahmad bin Umar bin Ahmad bin Aqil bin Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Umar Al – Hinduan al-Baalawi. It was further popularized in the archipelago by moderate scholars
